AlJazeeraEnglish asked:

A unique project is underway in Scotland, an attempt to build the world’s first underwater sea turbines. If successful the turbines would be an emerging technology that could help reverse global warming. But the project is expensive and has raised concerns about possible damage to the fishing industry and marine wildlife. From Islay in Scotland, Al Jazeera’s Tim Friend reports.

would it not be possible to somehow enclose the turbine blades in a sort of baffle or cage? something like maybe a grating on both sides to prevent things from getting tangled in the blades and to prevent larger animals from being injured yet still allowing the flow of the water through?

I think the reporter just wanted to go to a whiskey distillery, even though it had nothing to do with the subject of the report!
