The new hybrids are a novel thing, but they still got lousey acceleration. And if you convert to Biodeisel, well, how long will that last? In some parts of the country people are getting pretty ruthless because its getting harder to find waste cooking oil to make the stuff. I doubt we’ll be driving all electric cars, because there isn’t enough infrastructure to support life sized slot cars. But wouldn’t it be cool to have electric hot rods?
Why is that so bad?

That’s an excellent question. Personally, I think energy efficient not only LOOK nerdy, they certainly sound kinda lame. But, I’m from the muscle car era.
I like your electric hot rod idea. As long as it SOUNDED like a hot rod.
Too much time on your hands is not a good thing……………………. Electric cars have there pros and cons just like gasoline and diesel cars so whats the difference???

I got one. but just how efficient is efficient?? It’s called a bike
actually there are electric hot rods out there although not in a form you expected. these babies go o-60 mph in 3.8 seconds. or olde porsche turned into electric engine that easily beat a 911 Carreras. i mean hybrids are future technology today if we can find or have to find alternative fule source that is simple to use as gasoline. electric may have some life to it when we find quick and fast way to recharge the car and prolonging the battery life.
Since I drive over 200 miles a day, my next vehicle will definitely be well researched. Obviously, the oil companies and government aren’t going to pitch in and help us pay our fuel bills, so until something is done about the out of control fuel rates, guess I will have to give in for my own sake.

Infrastructure isn’t the problem you may think it is - EVs charge at night, using off-peak electricity - my utility even has a special electric vehicle rate, overnight, of only 2.5 cents per kwh. At this rate, my 1300 miles/month of driving costs just over 8 dollars, yes, EIGHT DOLLARS. In my gas sedan, that’s well over 200 dollars worth of gasoline!

It gets 200 miles to the charge, costs $28500. Remember the difference in fuel costs. You can afford a bigger car payment.
